Higher Level Ballet Class

What to Expect
This is the perfect class for students wishing to learn ballet at Intermediate-Foundation Level and/or start pointe work. Students are expected to have a minimum of 5 years experience and/or an examination at Grade 5 Ballet in any syllabi. Students are welcome to join this class if they have sufficient training and technique.
A class in classical ballet technique, focusing on strength coordination and improving technical ability. Students will learn a broad range of steps whilst following both BBO dance’s beautiful syllabus alongside free work exercises. This class is ideal for those who are looking to start or develop their pointe work. Students will only be permitted to take part in the pointe work section of this class at the sole discretion of the teacher.
It is compulsory for students wishing to take part in the pointe work section of this class take a minimum of 2 higher level ballet classes per week with Brighton Ballet School. New students are advised to undergo a pointe work assessment please ask for more information.
A note about pointe work:
- We would advise booking one of our pointe work assessments as this thorougher study of a dancers ability will give both teacher and student an excellent benchmark of where the student’s strengths are at this point in their training. You can book a pointe work assessment through our drop-in class booking system.
- Students wishing to include pointe work in their class need to be attending a minimum of 2 classes per week in higher level classical ballet.
Instructors are qualified Dance Teachers, carefully selected for their expertise and experience within the industry and carry full enhanced DBS checks.
Students will gain strength, control, stamina, musicality, performance, presentation, confidence, increased posture and flexibility whilst expanding their technical knowledge of classical ballet and repertoire.
What to Wear
Black leotard, Pink Tights, Pink Ballet shoes, demi and pointe shoes are required if appropriate. Hair tied neatly in a bun.
Due to the nature of the pandemic and the constantly changing situation that unfolds on a daily basis this may change at short notice.

In the event of a local or national lockdown classes will either continue to be provided on line or your fees will be held in lieu of reopening at a future date.

Student Discount – am I eligible?
(Please note we will ask you to provide evidence of your student status)
To be eligible for an 16+ student discount at Brighton Ballet School you must be aged 16 or over, registered with an education establishment and be :
A full-time student registered and studying on a higher education course with a university or college enrolled on a full-time course made up of at least 15 tuition-led and/or structured learning hours a week over at least 14 weeks
Receiving NHS bursary money*, either as a full-time or part-time student,
A full-time postgraduate student (for example, studying or writing up for 15 or more hours a week)
Possess a valid NUS, or student card with at least 6 weeks of your course remaining.
