Sonya Pettigrew


BA (Hons), Dip,

Teaches : Ballet, Tap, ACRO, PBT, Stretching & Limbering,  Vocational & Exam Coaching.


BBO Syllabus & Exam preparation, Repetoire, pointe work, adult ballet.  


Sonya has a particular interest in training and preparing students for vocational careers.  She has been lucky enough to have several students graduate from top schools including the Royal Ballet School Associates, Elmhurst School for Ballet, London Contemporary, Rambert and Leban Conservatoire for Dance and Music.  She has a passion for educating dancers of all ages in preparing and establishing good pointe work technique. 

Training & Qualifications 

Sonya has been dancing for 40 years starting at the tender age of 4 years old, with Tina Pilgrem at King Slocombe School of Dance in Cambridge.  She passed her exams in ballet with Distinction including Intermediate and Advanced level.  She returned to the dance world after a short break in 1999 and trained to teach under the guidance of Esther Juon, Dancelaines in Brighton.  She completed her studies with the BBO Dance shortly after and opened the school 12 years ago.  More Recently she has qualified and is Registered as a Level 1-6 Acrobatic Arts teacher.

Saskia Wilkinson


Dip (RAD) 

Teaches: Ballet, Repetoire, Exam Coaching, BBO Syllabus, Vocational Training.



Since Saskia has become a full time dance teacher, sharing her knowledge and enthusiasm for dance with her students is her priority.  Her passion for teaching classical ballet is reflected in the success and progress of her students. 

Training & Qualifications 

Saskia started dancing aged 3 years old.  She begun her professional ballet training at the Royal Ballet Lower School (White Lodge) and continued her training at English National Ballet School.  Age 18 Saskia contracted glandular fever and her performance career was put on hold.  On recovery and returning to dance, she joined Norther Ballet’s Graduate Professional Programme, performing with the company and filming their children’s ballet ‘The Elves and The Shoemaker’ for the BBC.  Saskia’s performance career tragically and prematurely ended due to a hip operation and she moved into teaching.  She gained her Professional Dancer’s Teaching Diploma through the Royal Academy of Dance.

Kathryn Turner

BBO Syllabus & Exam preparation, Repetoire, pointe work, adult ballet.  

Kathryn started dancing from the age of 5 and quickly discovered her passion for movement. Professionally, she trained at the Urdang Academy for 3 years on the Professional Dance and Musical Theatre degree course, gaining a 1st Class BA Hons Degree. Kathryn discovered her passion for teaching dance at age 18 and has not stopped since, teaching for various dance schools including Tiptoes and Tappers, London, where she taught the BBO ballet and tap syllabus for 4 years.  She is really excited to be working with the Brighton Ballet School and dancing by the sea!

Specialises:  Children’s ballet, exam coaching, Acrobatics. 

Sheree has been dancing with Brighton Ballet School for over 10 years, arriving at our doorstep as a teenager.  She progressed rapidly through her grades in Ballet and continues to work hard towards her Intermediate and Advanced Level Exams. More recently she became a qualified Acrobatic Arts instructor passing her teaching exams with flying colours.  She came on board as a Teaching Assistant several years ago and has been a favourite with our Children’s School ever since.
