Take your dancing to the next level by taking an exam in Ballet!

We are offering students of all ages and abilities the opportunity to take an exam in Ballet during the summer term of 2021. We have a 100% pass rate, often receiving the highest mark of Distinction for over half our student’s results at all levels.  We follow the highly respected BBODance examination board for our examinations.

Working towards taking an exam in the level you are studying is an excellent and rewarding way of improving your technique and progressing to the next level.  Students find that the extra work involved in preparing for exams is challenging but highly rewarding and enjoyable!  Exams are taken in small groups of 4 students and friendships are often forged and strengthened through the process.

Are BBODance Exams Vocational? 
The first exam our children take is their Primary Ballet exam, which is our only non-vocational examination.  From Grade 1 – Grade 8, including Intermediate Foundation, Intermediate and Advanced 1 & 2 the examinations are vocational and carry UCAS points.

Brighton Ballet School is an inclusive school and our examinations and assessments are available to everyone. Students with disabilities or extra needs will be given the support they need to achieve success.

On this occasion Vocational exams will be digitally recorded (17^th July).  At the in-person exams on 31^st July an external examiner from BBODance is sent to our school to assess our students.  The BBODance charge us for this both digital and in-person examination service via their exam fees as normal.  These can be found below :

FEES ARE DUE IN FULL BEFORE YOUR EXAM DATE AS FOLLOWS :  

Vocational : 15^th June 2021 (including Florence/Imogen)

Grade 1 – 5 : 24^th June 2021

We at Brighton Ballet School will also require a small charge to cover the cost of hiring the dance studio and providing staff on the dress rehearsal and exam day.  We do our best to keep this to an absolute minimum and divide the costs equally between all exam candidates. On this occasion the costs are £42.50 per student (this covers both the exam date and dress rehearsal and is reliant upon those we anticipate signing up for the exams doing so!

Exam Uniform : 
Each student is required to purchase the correct exam uniform for the grade/discipline they are taking.  Please see further details below :

Please note it is compulsory to purchase this through our shop to ensure it is BBODance Compliant and identical, including:

• adult and children’s uniform such as tights, leotard, skirt, shoes
• ballet shoe ribbons
• Ballet tights We recommend footed tights for Grades 1 – 5 and convertible for Inter-Foundation Ballet.

PLEASE LET US KNOW ASAP IF YOU NEED AN ADULT OR TEEN LEOTARD/SKIRT AS WE NEED TO ORDER THIS AS SOON AS POSSIBLE!

We endeavour to keep our prices as low as possible, however prices may vary depending on our suppliers. If you can find your BBO branded cheaper we will endeavour to price match, T&C’s apply.

Private Coaching Classes :
We offer private classes on either a one to one basis, or shared private classes with up to two students attending, at a cost of £35.00/£40.00  per hour, depending on upon us being able to book a venue for the class.  Costs will only be more than this if rental charges are above our usual hiring fee for whatever reason.  We may suggest closer to the time that a private or shared private is necessary to ensure your success in your examination.

Access to the BBO Syllabus Content?

We are able to offer our exam students access to the BBO syllabus exam music, written syllabus and videos at a cost of £10 per student.  This is a one-off payment and your access will expire on 31^st July 2021.  Why are we charging?  To be a registered teacher of BBO I have to pay well over £300 for access to this content therefore we feel it is only fair that charge our students for access to this content accordingly.  To gain access to these resources please use the link attached below on the booking form.
